Customization is our jam 

I started Deliberate Life Designs by first making running sandals for myself, friends, and family. For the first 5 years I only offered fully custom shapes. Each and every sandal I sold was hand sketched by me from a tracing of someone’s feet. Some folks find this process to be cumbersome and wanted a way to “just order a pair of size 10’s” but many people truly want and need a sandal shaped to their unique foot so, of course, I still offer full customization for pretty much whatever you need.

Foot Shapes

For those of you who want a quick and easy order, I give you the best of both worlds. Because all feet are different and well-fitting sandals are something you deserve to find regardless of your foot shape, I don’t want to just offer one shape… so I offer FIVE! You can order a Standard shape sandal in your regular size if you want, but you’ve also got the option now to print our templates for Standard, Mountain, Slope, Wide, and Narrow foot shapes to find your best fit. Sandals From Your Foot Tracing

Your sandals can still be hand drawn and designed in collaboration between you and us. I recognize that no matter how many templates I make, I’ll never match everyone’s foot!

Here’s How To Create Your Custom Shape:

  1. Print a few sizes of the standard shape to find the right length.

  2. On the printout, position your foot and draw the edits you want made for each foot. Draw anything you want changed (shape and toe plug placement).

  3. Scan each full page in and and email them to us within about a week of placing your order.

  4. Place your sandal order on the website. In the drop down menu for shape, select “custom”. In the size drop down menu, select the size you drew your alterations on. Don’t worry, I’ll base you sandal off your scanned drawing, not the size selected on your order.

If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll notice that there is now an additional charge for custom shapes. As my business has grown, I’ve realized that I just can’t keep up with the time-consuming work that goes into sketching and refining each custom shape without increasing prices. The $25 custom fee will allow me to set aside the time needed to focus on the custom sandal designs while maintaining a lower price for those who don’t need custom work.

Have you ordered custom minimalist sandals from us before? Custom foot shapes are kept on file forever! This means that once you have ordered your first pair of sandals with a custom shape, you never have to pay the custom fee again. Just put a note on your order letting us know that your shape is already on file. If you only need a small adjustment to one of the foot shapes, shoot me an email and we can work out a lower price.

Other Ideas?

There are many other ways I can customize a sandal for you. Folks in the past have had me put in an additional 3mm midsole for more protection from rocks, changed the footbed to a suede or leather material, used their own 3/4” webbing (assuming it fits my hardware), and more.
