Re-lacing from the clip buckle to the minimalist buckle
What you’ll need:
Needlenose pliers to push webbing through sandal as needed
Unlace sandal straps and remove buckle. Now you have a loose strap attached to the toe loop.
Be sure the strap is oriented flat, insert the top side of the strap (dot side) facing away from the foot down through the hole at the outside of the foot. Leave enough slack for your foot to fit - keeping it somewhat loose. Later, as you tension the final strap, this slack will be pulled taught.
Thread the minimalist buckle onto the webbing and slide it up towards the outside of the foot. Thread on keeper loop.
Lay strap flat across sandal in front of both side holes, dot side down
Wrap the strap under and pull up through the hole by the instep of the foot (the dot side should be away from the foot)
Take the strap running across the sandal and flip and pull it toward the heel, orienting the dot side away from the foot. You’ve created your heel strap.
Get the heel adjusted now. It should be tight enough to keep your foot from sliding back on the sandal. Don’t try to use the heel strap as a way to “tighten” the sandals by making it shorter or you will just end up being situated too far forward on the footbed.
Take the end of the strap over your instep, and feed it under the first strap that comes from the toe loop (the photo shows going over and back but we find going under and back to be better). To allow the straps to lay flat you will use a half twist to orient the dots toward the foot.
Thread through the buckle snug straps. feed any excess tail into the keeper strap.
Make any fine-tuning fit adjustments as needed.
If needed, cut excess webbing and seal the ends with a lighter.
